I understand that LIGHTS is Lights’s legal name. But there are SOME PEOPLE who DONT KNOW THAT and think that LIGHTS is only a NICKNAME she goes by.
That does not mean that they’re not fans.
Those people are not idiots.
Those people are not stupid.
Those people do not mean to be disrespectful.
They just DONT. FUCKING. KNOW.
So it’s not right to send them messages that (from what I’ve seen) look like they’ve come from the devil himself. Do you know how someone feels when they get a horrific message in their ask box when they didn’t know that they even did anything wrong? What if something like that made them extremely depressed, depressed enough to hurt themselves or something? You don’t know what they go through in their lives outside Tumblr.
So if you see or hear someone call Lights ‘VALERIE’ online or at a show or anywhere, don’t flip your shit and act like a total douchebag. You can just calmmmlyyyy explainnn how being called ‘VALERIE’ is a pet peeve of hers.
I went to Lights’s concert without knowing about her hatred of that name, and I’ll admit that I did shout out ‘VALERIEEE’ a few times. But now I know and I feel horrible about it and I’ll never call the beautiful woman that name again.
And if you really want to shit on my ask box and send me a hateful message, go ahead. It only means that you didn’t read or understand anything from this notification and that you truly have a cold heart.
